John graduated from NUI Galway with a Bachelor in Corporate Law and an LLB. During his primary degree, John also studied at Université de Caen, Basse Normandie for a year.

John then attained his LLM from University College London in Comparative US and EC Antitrust law, International Commercial Litigation and IT law.

John then went to New York and worked in the Colgate-Palmolive’s legal department. There he was exposed to a wide range of Commercial Law areas.

John became a member of the New York bar in September 2006.

On returning to Ireland, John undertook his traineeship with GJ Moloney Solicitors in Cork and Dublin. During this time, John was heavily involved in Personal Injury Litigation and Commercial Litigation.

After qualifying, John took up employment with a leading criminal law firm in Dublin. Whilst there, he gained vast experience in Criminal Law. He has dealt with cases in the Central Criminal Court, Special Criminal Court, Circuit Court and District Court.

In 2010, John returned to his native Galway in order to open up his own practice. Since founding John F Martin & Company, John has advised in many areas of law. He is a committee member of the Galway Solicitors Bar Asssociation.
